The Great New WonderFUL is AweFUL

The Great New Wonderful released in 2005, features a fantastic cast with Maggie Gyllenhaal, Stephen Colbert, & Judy Greer. Despite this amazing group of actors, I have officially labeled this movie THE WORST MOVIE EVER!

I purchased it for $3 at my local video store and now I know why. Don't rent it and definitely don't by it. The movie takes you through the lives of NYC residents after 9/11. With absolutely no story line or plot, I found the movie to be a complete waste of time.

Speaking of worst movies ever, tell us about the movie that you've labeled THE WORST MOVIE EVER! We'd love to hear from you.

First Sunday: A Totally Crude Must See Movie for All Believers

This hilarious comedy is about two best friends that grew up in the ghetto and are now trying to make ends meat. After some troubled times they decide to rob a local church to solve all of their money problems. When they find out that the church has a few problems of it's own, they start to wonder who has it worst. As the story unfolds, the characters on both sides of the story experience true love, freedom, and forgiveness as they learn to not judge others based on what you see. The movie helped me realize that GOD has a plan for each of us!

The irony of the movie is found in the judgement that I placed on the characters within the first few minutes. First Sunday is definitely not a movie for kids and with a cast like Ice Cube and Tracy Morgan, it may not seem like a movie that you'd tell your pastor about either, but if you can manage to look past the crudeness, THIS IS A MUST SEE MOVIE FOR ALL BELIEVERS!

Expelled Offers Compelling Evidence

If you haven't seen Ben Stein's new documentary/movie, Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed, then you may be blind to the obstacles that face our country in regards to Freedom of religion and speech.

The movie provides compelling evidence and dialogue around Intelligent Design, which is the theory that ALL things were created and originated from GOD. Stein's movie also shines light on the discrimination that many scientists and university professors are facing as a result of these beliefs.

Don't let yourself be left out in the dark on this important topic. Check your local movie listings for show times or visit www.expelledthemovie.com for a detailed overview.

Chronicles of Narnia 2: A Great Lesson for Church Folk

Even as a self-proclaimed enemy of all movies from the Sci-Fi/fantasy genre, I must admit that I have enjoyed every minute of both The Chronicles of Narnia 1 & 2. If you have not seen them, I highly recommend them as a perfect example to some of the stages that we go through as Christians.

The series of movies originated from fiction books created by well-known author C.S. Lewis and each one has offered a well received Christian alternative to secular movies such as Harry Potter & The Golden Compass . The first movie follows four siblings on a journey through a mystical land and offers beautiful symbolism of the grace, mercy, and ultimate sacrifice of Christ.

The second movie offers a perfect analogy of what many believers go through after following Christ their entire lives. I could relate to the main character's flaws of self-righteousness, pride, falsely judging others, and an arrogant sense of entitlement. Lewis offers insight into the redemptive power of Christ's never-ending, unfailing love for his people despite our shortcomings.
